Woot to the Cards for signing Matt Holliday. I’ve read some gruff from fans about paying him $120 million over 7 years, but it doesn’t bother me. We were 17th in payroll in 2009 with $77.6 million, behind all but the Reds and Pirates in the NL Central. For a team of our caliber, spending more money for a player like Holliday doesn’t seem like a bad thing, especially if it helps resign Pujols.
I can’t wait for this season to start…
Woot, the Cardinals win the NL Central division.
I can’t wait for the playoffs to start next week.
I had one hell of a dream last night… I often have dreams where no matter how hard I try I can’t dial a phone number right, or where I need to run someplace but I can’t seem to walk right. Erica thinks these are due to me being frustrated about something, and I don’t disagree. Last night I had a dream in the same vein…
It was the world series and I was catching for the Cardinals, against the Yankees. It was apparently the last game of the world series. We were up 2-1, bottom of the ninth. We were in the field, so I assume that means we were in St. Louis. In the spirit of not being able to dial that phone, or run to wherever I needed to be, I started not being able to catch or throw the baseball. The pitch would come in, and I’d miss it (runner advances). I’d then get it and throw it wildly back to the pitcher (runner advances). One runner came home due to this, so the score was tied 2-2.
The next faceless hitter smacks one into the outfield, and a runner starts to come home. The throw comes into me just as the runner is about to standup into home. Oddly, the runner is Jack Nicholson. I catch the throw and tag him, and I’m convinced it was a full step before he touched homeplate. The umpire disagrees and calls him safe.
I lose it and start arguing with the umpire as the Yankees parade around celebrating their victory.
WTF?
Hav just issued the following challenge in chat:
17:07 * siddgames thinks 18 Brumaire is a game where the Voglemeister could
aim for something with a little more meat, with more thematic stuff.
18 Brumaire is my idea for a game based on Napoleon’s initial coup.
I have accepted his challenge and shall be destroying him with it’s awesomeness.
The last eight days have been very kind to me.
- Tuesday, 11/18: Saw Metallica at the BOk Center. It was amazing.
- Wednesday, 11/19: Metallica’s live show is posted on Live Metallica, so I purchased it. I love the fact that they post each show for $10 the next day. I’ve already listened to it four or five times.
- Thursday, 11/20: Headed to bgg.con 2008. I played around 20 games, which doesn’t sound like a lot, but there were a couple 4+ hour games in there, plus vendor time, plus game explanations and demos, etc. It was so much fun, and i’m already counting down to next year. I’ll try to post my full thoughts on it later.
- Wednesday, 11/26: New Killers Album. I’ve been waiting on this for a long time. Their last ablum, “Sam’s Town” is still one of my favorites, if not my favorite album of all time.
The only downside to the best week ever was that i had to spend three days in Frost, TX installing a phone system
And I quote: “Earlier this week, The Daily Telegraph of London reported that Mr. Obama collects Spider-Man and Conan the Barbarian comic books.”

Is it too early to name him best president ever? I severly doubt Martin Van Buren was that cool…
You’d think that after my 36+ years on this planet I would have gotten tired of poop jokes, but nope.
Case in point:

Argh, i can’t stand people, at work, who keep their blinds closed… you have to reach a certain level in the company to get a window. And half the people on my side of the building keep their damn blinds closed. We sit on the south side, so it’s not like the sun is relentless. And they don’t adjust them as the day goes on. They simply leave them closed. A few of them even have plants on their credenzas. I just don’t get it…
Woot, looking forward to the World Series starting tomorrow. I’m happy with how the playoffs ended up (and specifically that Boston lost to the Rays), and plan on rooting for the Phillies.
Let’s hope for a good Cardinals year in 2009.
